I was with my bestest buddy Juli at Junkstock '12 in Omaha, and ran across some vintage flashcards. Now I'm kind of loving the whole numbers thing in decorating lately, and they caught my eye. I picked up just 1 and brought it home with me, knowing I could think of something to do with it. (I was so
stupid conservative and only bought 1, what was I thinking!)
I was at Hobby Lobby and found a small canvas that I thought would fit the flashcard. I was perusing the store for inspiration when I breezed past the scrap-booking aisle. I'm no avid scrapbooker, but I have dabbled enough to know that there are some great papers and embellishments that would maybe work. I snatched a few and headed home to see if I could come up with a plan....
I painted the outside edges of the canvas black, mod podged (Is that a word? If not it is now!) then trimmed a piece of scrapbook paper to the front, to fit the canvas.
On top of that came the flashcard and again mod podged it to the top of the scrapbook paper. With some antique looking clock embellishments (time, vintage, numbers...you get the idea)
hot glued and layered over that, I came up with some vintage art that I really love, on a very small DIY budget!
It really was ABC, 123 Easy! Now to get my hands on some more flashcards.....
