Gossip Green

I know it's just after the 4th of July and I'm talking "Green" but isn't everything going "Green"?  I found this awesome Gossip Bench on Craig's List from a little lady named Thelma, that I really enjoyed getting to know.  She even had me email her the "after" and was thrilled that it turned out
so "darling" (Thelma's words, She's a stitch!)

I knew she had a tone of personality in there, I just had to coax it out!  I am in the middle of redecorating my kitchen, on a budget DIY style, so I was anxious to find her for only $15.
Thelma's mother had just passed and this was in her home.  I could tell she was hesitant to give her up, but she herself was downsizing and just did not have the room. I was thrilled to take her off her hands! My new accent color in the Kitchen is Apple Green, a fun fresh change. I removed the cushion and dove in with some Zinsser Cover Stain Spray Primer.
I sprayed in the wind outside...not a great idea...but managed to get her covered so I could put some paint on. I was so impatient excited to see the color on her! I found some great green spray paint at Menards, waited for the cover stain to dry, (PLEASE follow the dry time directions, it's worth it) and sprayed the first couple strokes. All I could think of was "AWESOME!" I'm so freaking excited!  The Rust-Oleum 2X Coverage in Apple Green/Satin was spot on. I loved the color.
By the way if you want to invest in a spray can "trigger" I would recommend it, as it was so much easier to use and your fingers did not get as fatigued.  I found mine right in the aisle with the spray paint at Menards (how cleverly marketed!)
As the paint was drying I recovered the cushion with my trusty electric staple gun.  I used the existing fabric as a template and cut out my fabric that I had found on sale at Joann's Fabrics, for $10 a yard.  It is outdoor fabric, a little pricey normally, but I loved the colors and retro pattern. PLUS the fact that it's durability for a kitchen, was just what I was looking for.
Here she is all dressed up and ready to go....right into my Kitchen!

What do you think?  Well, I would say Thelma is right.
She IS darling! I hope you feel I did her proud...
